I believe therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and grounded in compassion.

I created Sunval Healing Center from a deeply held belief: every person deserves a place where they can feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued. Meaningful healing begins in relationships built on trust, compassion, authenticity, and emotional safety.

Throughout my career, I have supported children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, emotional-regulation difficulties, life transitions, parenting concerns, and ADHD. My background includes outpatient therapy, acute behavioral health, crisis care, family collaboration, and clinical leadership.

Rather than asking, “What is wrong with you?” I believe a more meaningful question is, “What has happened to you, and how can we help you move forward with hope?”

My philosophy

Therapy is not about becoming someone else. It is about reconnecting with your values, recognizing your resilience, and creating a life that reflects who you truly are. My approach is compassionate, personalized, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-informed care while honoring each person’s experiences, strengths, identity, and goals.

How I work

My work recognizes the connection between thoughts, emotions, relationships, culture, identity, and overall well-being. Care may draw from trauma-informed therapy, Adlerian principles, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, self-compassion, and family-systems approaches when they fit your goals.

Together, we focus on practical skills, emotional growth, self-understanding, and lasting change—not simply surviving, but learning how to thrive.

Education and professional background

My graduate training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Bellevue University strengthened a foundation rooted in ethical, evidence-informed, and culturally responsive care. I am licensed as an Independent Mental Health Practitioner in Nebraska and as a Mental Health Counselor in Iowa.

Beyond the therapy room

I am passionate about creating therapeutic resources that help people continue healing beyond the counseling office. Through guided workbooks, reflection exercises, educational materials, and my writing—including the upcoming The Love That Led Me Home—I explore identity, belonging, self-worth, resilience, and the courageous work of returning home to yourself.

My promise to you

I will meet you with compassion before judgment, listen before assuming, honor your story, celebrate your progress, and walk beside you as you discover the strength that has been within you all along.
