Under the federal No Surprises Act, individuals who do not have insurance or who choose not to use insurance generally have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of scheduled healthcare services.
Your estimate
When appointment requests open, eligible prospective clients will receive information about fees and may request a written Good Faith Estimate before scheduling. Keep a copy of the estimate for your records.
If a bill is substantially higher
If a bill is at least $400 more than the Good Faith Estimate from a provider or facility, you may have the right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute process.
